Michigan Best Local Eat: Poulos Brothers White Horse Tavern in Flint

It’s infamous for a lead water health crisis but Flint, Michigan is also home to The White Horse Tavern, owned by brothers Steve and Chris Poulos, which was named a Best Local Eats by the site Mlive-The Flint Journal.

You can’t tell it’s a Greek-run restaurant by the name perhaps, but you can in the food that features pub-style food such as pizzas, burgers, salads, macaroni and cheese – and beers on tap, comfort food and drink in a comfortable spot.

Steve Poulos told the site that that the tavern’s top items are pizzas, salads, and burgers and one menu dish that’s become a favorite combines some of the elements into a pizza burger that comes with French Fries.

You can even super size your pizza to get one that’s 16-inches across and comes with 12 slices instead of eight, and pizzas are 50 percent off the price on the weekends for inside dining only.

Besides the comfort foods, the business also offers salads for  people looking to eat healthier and can resist the other temptations. “When I’m in diet mode I’ll eat salad,” Steve Poulos confessed. Not me.
