Michel: Solidarity with Greece and Cyprus Is Non-Negotiable

BRUSSELS — The EU will use all the means at its disposal in the event of unilateral actions and challenges on the part of Turkey, European Council President Charles Michel said on Tuesday, presenting the results of the recent special summit to the European Parliament.

Michel said the European Council had a comprehensive discussion on the Eastern Mediterranean and the EU 's relations with Turkey, stressing that the EU was united against Turkey.

In addition, he noted that solidarity with Greece and Cyprus is non-negotiable, noting that "the sovereignty and sovereign rights of the member states must be respected."

The President of the European Council also stated that the EU welcomes the start of the confidence-building dialogue between Greece and Turkey.
