Metropolitan Epiphanios of Ukraine Visits the Metropolis of Belgium

BRUSSELS – His Beatitude Metropolitan Epiphanios of Kyiv and All Ukraine visited the headquarters of the Holy Metropolis of Belgium in Brussels on June 16, during trip to European institutions, at their invitation.

The Primate of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church received a warm welcome from His Eminence Metropolitan Athenagoras of Belgium and Exarch of the Netherlands and Luxembourg – the Benelux nations – and the employees of the central administration of the Metropolis.

There he had the opportunity to inform Metropolitan Athenagoras and his associates about the critical situation in Ukraine and the very difficult conditions of the war, but also form him to be informed about the situation of the Orthodox Church in the Benelux, as well as about the pastoral care of the Metropolis, and especially the care of local authorities for refugees arriving in the three states.

Metropolitan Athenagoras thanked the Primate of the Orthodox Ukrainian Church for the honorary informal visit and assured him of his full support for the problems of the Church of Ukraine and for the good accommodation of the Ukrainian refugees in the Benelux.
