Mendoni Confirms Australian Support for Return of Parthenon Marbles

SYDNEY – Greek Culture & Sports Minister Lina Mendoni, on tour in Australia, confirmed the country’s support to Greece for the return of the Parthenon Marbles, during a meeting with Australian Minister for Communications, Urban Infrastructure, Cities & the Arts Paul Fletcher in Sydney on Wednesday.

The illegal trading of cultural artefacts and antiquities was also discussed, with Fletcher pointing out the example of Aboriginal art, traded illegally at international scale. Collaborating closer towards repatriating any such artefacts was also discussed by the two ministers.

Mendoni also visited the Art Gallery of New South Wales and the Australian National Maritime Museum.
