Memory Eternal Christos Routsis

LOWELL – Christos A. Routsis, 89, passed away at Lowell General Hospital unexpectedly.

Chris was born October 10, 1931 in Lowell, MA, a son of the late Andrew and Maria (Diamantopoulos) Routsis. He was the loving husband of sixty years to the late Effie (Kalantzakos) Routsis whom he lost on July 7, 2017.

A lifelong resident of Lowell, Chris graduated from Lowell High School and later went on to take accounting courses at Bentley College.

He served his country in the Air Force during the Korean Conflict from 1951-1955. Upon his return he began his work career starting as an accountant for Capitol Distributors and then for Maxwell Supply and for the accounting firm Trio and Glowacki for many years. Rounding out his career, Chris worked as the purchasing agent for the City of Lowell up until his retirement.

A member of the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church in Lowell, he was an avid golfer who recorded two holes in one at Longmeadow Country Club where he was a member for many years. Chris enjoyed his winters with his wife in Tarpon Springs, where he also enjoyed his other love, which was surf fishing.

Over the last several years, Chris enjoyed meeting his friends at local coffee shops to discuss local and national politics and sports.

He is survived by his three sons, Andrew Routsis, David Routsis and his wife Donna, Daniel Routsis and his wife Karine, three grandchildren, Dana, Christina and Alexander; his sister in law, Stella Hantzes, and his brother in law, Nicholas Kalantzakos, and cousins Eve Soroken and Frances Cassidy; and many nieces and nephews.

Chris was pre-deceased by his brother in law, Michael Kalantzakos and his sisters in law, Sophie Antonakos and Martha Lawrence.

His Funeral Service was held on Wednesday, at the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, in Lowell and Interment followed in Westlawn Cemetery. In Lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Chris's name to the Holy Trinity Church.
