Meeting Room at EU Parliament Building Named After Manolis Glezos

BRUSSELS –The European Parliament's Bureau has decided to give a meeting room in the Altiero Spinelli building in Brussels the name "Manolis Glezos", after the late Greek politician who had twice served as an MEP and was an iconic figure of the Greek resistance to the Nazis in WWII.

According to a European Parliament press release on Tuesday, announcing a decision to name two of its buildings after Clara Campoamor and Sophie Scholl in honour of International Women's Day, the Bureau "also decided to rename meeting room SPINELLI 1G2 after the late Manolis GLEZOS, a Greek politician and Member of the European Parliament from 1 July 2014 to 8 July 2015 and from 24 July 1984 to 25 January 1985. He was a major figure in the national resistance against fascism."
