Managing Director Elly Andriopoulou in Kathimerini on where the SNFCC is Headed

November 13, 2020

ATHENS — In an interview with Greek newspaper Kathimerini a few months into her tenure, Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center (SNFCC) Managing Director Elly Andriopoulou discussed the organization’s priorities and strategic objectives. Emphasizing togetherness and the power of collaboration, Andriopoulou discussed the key role that developing the SNFCC’s artistic outreach will play in the organization’s future plans.

“I believe the SNFCC has already been imprinted in the public’s collective consciousness as a landmark of modern Athens. After all, from the very beginning, we intended it to become a symbol of the modern capital, and this approach applied to all three institutions, as a whole,” she said, referring to the Greek National Opera, the National Library of Greece, and the organization that runs the SNFCC, all of which call the cultural center home.

“I see tremendous opportunities for synergies, and this was [SNF Co-President] Andreas Dracopoulos’s vision from the very first moment: to create a “triple project” as it was called back then, that is, a center which would facilitate the coexistence of the environment, education, and the arts.”

“One of my top priorities is outreach, and we must start to promote it, first and foremost, within our own house, that is, to collaborate with our neighbors: the Greek National Opera and the National Library of Greece. Of course, each of us has our own programming, as we should. We have different audiences and different goals, but we can advance our joint plans of action together.”
