KALOGRIA, Achaia – A 33-year-old man has been arrested in a western Achaia village and charged with opening fire on four persons at the Prokopou lagoon, which is in the protected area of Kalogria, police announced on Saturday.

The suspect allegedly came up on a jet ski and fired a shotgun at the four people, who had come to the lagoon in search of poachers illegally hunting for birds. No one reported an injury after the incident.

Police succeeded in tracking down the 33-year-old in a nearby village and placed him under arrest, charging him with attempting to cause dangerous bodily harm, illegal weapons use and illegal hunting.
