Major Exhibition of Greek Wines Held Over the Weekend in Athens

ATHENS – Oenorama, billed as the biggest exhibition of Greek wines anywhere in the world, was inaugurated this weekend in central Athens’ Zappeion Hall, the 22nd consecutive year that the event has been held in the Greek capital.

This year’s Oenorama featured more than a 1,000 wines produced by roughly 150 producers from around Greece. Throughout the preceding week the exhibition’s organizers treated visitors and oenophiles to a number of wine tastings, dinners, seminars and other happenings in various parts of Athens, within the framework of the publication of the second edition of the “Athens Wine Week”.

One innovation this year was the “Wine Revelation” pavilion, which featured so-called “obscure” Greek wines from micro wineries, meaning less than 20,000 bottles in annual production, and wines from lesser-known Greek grape varieties (“cepage modestes”) as well as natural wines.
