Machine Operator Helping Firefighters Dies After Accident in Central Greece

AMFISSA — A 70-year-old operator of a heavy machine died in the General Hospital of Amfissa, Central Greece, on Monday following an accident as he was helping firefighters put out a blaze in the area.

The vehicle dropped 30 meters into a ravine at Eratini, location Rentzou, for unknown reasons. The man, who was a resident of Amigdalia in Dorida, was transported unconscious to the hospital around 15:30, where his death was confirmed.


ATHENS - A preliminary investigation was ordered by Athens first instance prosecutor Antonis Eleftherianos after the government's decision to suspend all sporting and cultural activities at the Olympic Athletic Center of Athens' (OAKA) Olympic Stadium and the Velodrome due to public safety concerns, it was reported on Saturday.
