Lockdown in Echinos Village, Northern Greece, Extended until June 30

ATHENS — The strict lockdown in the village of Echinos, in the region of Xanthi, will be extended for another five days until June 30.

Echinos was placed in strict lockdown for a week on June 18, following 73 new Covid-19 cases and four deaths since June 11. Residents have to stay at home while all shops are closed except pharmacies and supermarkets. The use of a face mask is compulsory in public. Open-air food markets are also closed.

The measures will apply until Tuesday at 6 a.m., when the situation will be reassessed.
