Meropi Kyriacou Honored as TNH Educator of the Year
NEW YORK – Meropi Kyriacou, the new Principal of The Cathedral School in Manhattan, was honored as The National Herald’s Educator of the Year.
To the Editor:
Happy New Year. I find the controversy and financial improprieties that have stopped the completion of the new St. Nicholas Orthodox Church not surprising. Shocking and noteworthy items that I read about in The National Herald are the following: 3 bailouts: 365.48 billion euros to the Greek government; 470,000 people have left Greece for other European countries, the United States and Canada; 18,000 doctors have left Greece for a better life; A low birth rate resulting in the closure of 14 Kindergartens and 9 Primary Schools in Greece. Blame is all around; Andy Dabilis’ piece about the charitable legacy of the notable Niarchos Foundation; The articles about the deaths of immigrant children; The despicable Fotis Dulos.
Sincerely,
John Vasilakos
