Letter to the Editor: C.E. Scaros-Jan. 6 Committee Trump and Beyond

January 19, 2023

Mr. Scaros reporting on Jan 6 Committee’s findings that there was an overkill of redundancy is a point well taken, meaning that too many trees were wasted by the 845 page documentations. Of course, all that paper could have been salvaged if Trump had the decency to concede as Gore did some 22 years ago, to GW Bush in a much closer election. Regrettably, thousands of hours and millions of dollars were wasted during Trump’s Presidency from all the intensive investigations private and public, and not to overstate his survival of two impeachment procedures.

I did not vote for Trump nor Clinton in 2016 as it was apparent to me they were not qualified. Clinton had way too much baggage and Trump had no respect for anyone – Mc Cain, The Bushes, Cheneys etc.

Trump as a maverick, showmanship and celebrity style bravado, connected well with the marginalized ‘Silent Minority’. These extreme factions of his constituency, became a dismayed rogue crowed that violently marched to the Capitol on Jan 6 2021 due to the ambiguity of the election results. Regarding the MAGA Slogan, this campaign message-symbol was so overwhelming that his supporters bought it with blind obedience by creating a demagogue!

Last time I checked when in Vancouver, BC at The Trump Hotel, guess what? All his caps, merchandise and souvenirs were ‘Made In CHINA’. Trump has numerous investments overseas but the media failed to scrutinize financial endorsements , that would have revealed his huge conflict of interest. As Trump disclosed, he receives millions in revenue from his licensing agreements for twos buildings in Turkey.

Hypothetically, had Trump won the 2020 election as a ‘Lame Duck’ President and had Tsipras been elected PM of Greece , the security of The Greek Nation would be at risk. Erdogan would have extended these covert

business leases to Trump’s heirs for life. Turkey by now, would be in Naxos and in control half the eastern Aegean! Erdogan would be wearing his red “MTGA” cap and Trump would wearing his red “MAGA” cap and both would be cruising the Aegean!

Let’s not forget when Nixon , Trump’s mentor was on the ropes in 1974, Turkey illegally invaded Cyprus and no one noticed.

It is also the fundamental duty of a free press to scrutinize public officials’ resumes, in order to avoid the likes of a George Santos the new congressman in New York.
