Letter to the Editor: Metropolitan Gerasimos’ Comforting Words on the Florida School Shooting

March 1, 2018

To the Editor:

Thank you for the article “Metropolitan Gerasimos Speaks about Florida School Shooting” (Feb. 17).

His Eminence spoke such wonderful words in such a difficult time, it was very comforting to read. I hope more people will take his advice and follow his words, “We have the strongest weapon of all in our faith. The Church is here as our fortress. The depth of God’s love is beyond our comprehension, but it is real, it is tangible, and it is unconditional. Let love guide our lives and guide our actions with others.”

Maybe the lawmakers will finally do something about this terrible problem of school shootings. If people actually lived their faith, maybe there would be no need for guns at all. My family and I send our thoughts and prayers with all those affected by the shooting and by gun violence.
