Lease Miscue Causes The Greeks Restaurant Closing in Wilmington, N.C.

WILMINGTON, N.C. – The Greeks restaurant is popular in North Carolina, but one of its two locations had to shut down over a misunderstanding about the lease, said the owners George, Roula and Nina Papakikolaou – but they’re already planning on opening another.

The eatery in Wilmington will close, they said online in a posting after the landlord thought they weren’t interested in staying and didn’t renew the lease, to their dismay, having wanted to keep it going.

“By the time we clarified our intention to renew, it was too late,” the post said. “We want to express our heartfelt gratitude for the unwavering support you’ve shown our Oleander location over the past five years,” said The Wilmington Star News.

They have another restaurant in Wilmington and said they will soon offer Mediterranean market items at Market Street, including Mama Roula’s homestyle pastitsio and moussaka, stuffed peppers, and galaktoboureko. They plan to open another location soon in Brunswick County in a development at Leland Town Center, near the ALDI grocery.
