Meropi Kyriacou Honored as TNH Educator of the Year
NEW YORK – Meropi Kyriacou, the new Principal of The Cathedral School in Manhattan, was honored as The National Herald’s Educator of the Year.
ATHENS — PASOK and its founder and political leader Andreas Papandreou (1919-1996) "remain deep in the heart of the Greek people," Movement for Change (KINAL) leader Fofi Gennimata said on Wednesday, the 25th anniversary of his death.
"To me, he is always alive," Gennimata said on social media of Papandreou, whom she first heard addressing the crowds when she was a university student, and whom she got to know when her father served on several of Papandreou's cabinets.

In a related development, KINAL MEP Nikos Androulakis proposed that Andreas Papandreou's name be given to a hall or a space in the Europarliament in Brussels or Strasbourg.
In a letter to the European Parliament head written jointly with Iratxe Garcia Perez, chair of the Group of the Progressive Alliance of Socialists and Democrats in the Europarliament, the two MEPs spoke of the late politician's contributions to democracy in Greece, fighting inequalities, creating a social welfare system, and promoting women's rights.
