Kastoria Metropolitan Serapheim, 61, Dies After Losing Battle Against Covid

KASTORIA, Greece – The metropolitan bishop of the northern Greek city of Kastoria, Metropolitan Serapheim, died in the early hours of Tuesday morning at the age of 61 years old after losing the battle against Covid-19. Metropolitan Serapheim was admitted to Thessaloniki's 424 General Military Training Hospital as a precaution on December 8, with initially mild symptoms of the disease, but his condition started to deteriorate rapidly on December 20 and he had to be transferred to an ICU.

Metropolitan Serapheim was ordained a bishop in 1996.
