Jimmy The Greek Taverna Owner Stabbed to Death By Worker

WEST BOCA, FLA. – Dimitrios Karaloukas, 61, the owner of the Jimmy the Greek Taverna in West Boca, Florida, was stabbed to death, allegedly by an employee who reportetedly said he was angry about a photo his boss had posted online, authorities said.

TV station PIX 11 reported “Karaloukas owner was sitting near the front of the restaurant during dinner service Thursday when he was approached by restaurant employee Tilus Lebrun on Thursday March 13 at 7:30 PM,

Sun Sentinel reported that “He started working at Jimmy the Greek restaurant in January, Augustin said. His shift as a dishwasher started there at 3:30 p.m…fellow employees said that Lebrun, 42, stabbed Karaloukas ‘for no apparent reason,’ plunging a large kitchen knife several times into Karaloukas’ side, and once into his back as roughly 20 diners looked on in horror.

Lebrun also allegedly stabbed another restaurant employee who has not been identified.  That man was taken to an area hospital for emergency surgery and remains in critical condition.”

After fleeing the restaurant Lebrun he was arrested on nearby street and he was still wearing his restaurant apron.

According to the Sun Sentinel, “Lebrun, who is Haitian, told one of the responding deputies in Creole, ‘I killed him because he took my photograph on March 2 and posted it on the Internet.’ Interviewed later by deputies, Lebrun said ‘They need to learn how to respect people.  I have three kids in Haiti.  I know they will suffer, but they will survive.’”

Lebrun will face homicide and attempted homicide charges and is being held without bail.
