Meropi Kyriacou Honored as TNH Educator of the Year
NEW YORK – Meropi Kyriacou, the new Principal of The Cathedral School in Manhattan, was honored as The National Herald’s Educator of the Year.
ANCHORAGE, AK – You can find Greek diners, restaurants and eateries anywhere, even in a slightly obscure location in a South Anchorage, Alaska strip mall, where Meraki Hellenic Grill – true to its name – delivers goods with soul, creativity and love.
That’s what got it a glowing review from Alaska Life that said while, “You have to know about this space to find it,” that it’s sure worth it, the food’s that good, Greek and other Eastern Mediterranean fare.
“It’s one of my favorite new spots in town,” said reviewer Mara Severin. She said the owners, the eatery apparently now changing its name to Meraki Afrah, but online customers joining in the praise for the food.
The menu features Greek fare like grilled octopus and chicken souvlaki, doner kebab, spanakopita, moussaka and pastistio – the critic’s favorite – but she said, “It’s all about those tender, savory, long-marinated meats.”
She said her daughter gave her the best lines, about the crusty, caramelized character of the meats. “They’re the best bite,” she said.
