Ioanna Moraitou, Mother of Lawyer Maria Markou, Has Died

NEW YORK – Ioanna Moraitou, 75, mother of lawyer Maria Markou, passed away suddenly in Greece where she resided. The sad event was announced by Markou herself in a post on social media on July 13, saying goodbye to her beloved mother.

"As we are born, so at some point we must end. The question, however, is what course we had on this journey. All I can say for sure is that today a woman suddenly left us who was a model of love, devotion, and dignity. As for me, I stand as a strong soldier until the end. That's how you taught me mom to always do – to be strong and to smile even in the most difficult day of my life. Mom, you did not leave, you are inside me.”

Markou, in the same post, noted that she will be out of New York until Sunday, as she left for Greece to proceed with the necessary arrangements.
