International Animation Festival, Animasyros, Is Back

ERMOUPOLIS, Greece — The largest and most beloved International Animation Festival, Animasyros, organised for the 13th year, has been remodeled and will present a wide range of films, both in its natural space, on the island of Syros, as well as online, through a live platform created especially for this year's Phygital version.

From September 23 to September 27, reducing geographical restrictions, the public will have the opportunity to watch some of the best animated films, renowned professionals and the new generation of creators, from around the world, selected by the Animasyros team. With more than 3,000 films from 100 countries entered for consideration, the programme of the Festival consists of five fixed competition sections (International, TV Series & Films, Student Competition, Greek Panorama & European Award Values), the International Panorama, films for children with the tribute "K.ID.S." but also, in collaboration with the Athens Children's Film Festival, special tributes such as "Animapride V" and a series of educational workshops.

The honoured country of Animasyros13 is the Czech Republic, with its rich animation scene. Two programmes will be presented, a selection of films from the Czech International Animation Festival – Anifilm and a selection of films from the Prague Film School – FAMU. The tribute is carried out with the support of the Czech Centre in Athens.

The screenings of the Festival will take place in open spaces in selected parts of Syros.
