Increased Police Measures to Apply on Pentecost Long Weekend

ATHENS – Police will take additional measures on roads, ports and airports for the Pentecost and Monday of the Holy Spirit holidays, from June 5-8, to ensure the safety of citizens.

According to Greek Police the measures include among others:

-Special actions in cities throught the period of the holidays for the smooth and seamless movement of vehicles and citizens, especially of vulnerable groups.

-Increased police presence and patrolling in parts of the road network with a high frequency of car accidents.

-Increased measures at the entrances and exits of major cities with high traffic load

-Measures in areas with mass passenger traffic (ports, airports).

ATHENS - Greece’s railway system, whose safety flaws were exposed in a February 2023 train wreck that killed 57, still is a danger to passengers because the government hasn’t yet installed systems designed to reduce the risks, the Union of Train Drives (PEPE) said.
