In New Brunswick, NJ, Taka Taka Brings Really Fast Food, Greek Style

Taka Taka Street Greek restaurant in New Brunswick, NJ offers a new version of fast-casual setting in presenting traditional dishes with new twists, but staying true to its heritage and family style food.

“Taka Taka was inspired by my family being Greek,” said owner and operator Doug Schneider, whose restaurant just opened. “We are in the Greek community locally and we cook Greek food at home and I never really had the opportunity to put a Greek concept anywhere,” he told Tap Into New Brunswick.

The Greek community used to thrive there, walls showing off vintage photos of Greek life for customers to look at when not browsing a menu featuring the likes of Falafel Waffle and a Greek cheesesteak gyro.

“When I brought this to Chef Jackie Mazza, she got really excited because she could take all of her culinary expertise and basically combine her expertise and an inspiration of Greek cuisine and create some really cool signature dishes,” he said.
