In Hellenic, Charlotte Gets New Greek Restaurant, Mad Greek Family

Amelia and Peyton Limberakis know Greek food and restaurants, learning from their dad Chris and growing up at his The Mad Greek eatery, but they wanted to break out on their own and came up with ‘Hellenic’, in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Their dad was a Greek immigrant who followed a model so many who came from Greece did, running a restaurant because the customers kept coming after they got a taste of Greece.

His children wanted to take Greek food in a different direction for a new generation and that will include a new aesthetic from The Mad Greek’s Mediterranean look as they tilted toward a more modern look.

“We both had full careers before this,” Amelia told Axios Charlotte. She was an emergency room nurse and her brother worked in insurance and banking before the family roots got them.

It’s going to be a nice place to go if you want Greek food for a date night or a night out,” Amelia said, and there’s plenty of Greek-Americans in the city. The restaurant will have a full bar with Greek beer on tap, and lots of Greek wine.
