Meropi Kyriacou Honored as TNH Educator of the Year
NEW YORK – Meropi Kyriacou, the new Principal of The Cathedral School in Manhattan, was honored as The National Herald’s Educator of the Year.
LONDON – For six weeks a year in the summer in Walsall, England, Panikos Panayiotou, 44, turns out great Greek dishes in a backyard shed restaurant to honor his late father and gives much of the money to charities.
It’s been going on since 2014, two years after his father Lakis passed away, the eatery named for him. Panayiotou told SWNS, “He tried to start it … built half a restaurant in his garden … passed away before it could be finished.”

A sports development manager, he and his wife Michelle donate their time and cooking skills and have given some $70,000 to charities from Laki’s Greek Kitchen.
“My father always wanted to run a traditional Greek taverna from his home, and so it’s a way of keeping his memory alive and raising much-needed money for charity,” and has.
He told Fox News Digital what’s special is “the ability to serve people through the love of food in memory of my father and to help local people in need.”
