In Austin, Nanakos Sees ZIKI Tesla-Like Model for Restaurants

He’s in Austin, Texas for now but Nick Nanakos thinks his ZIKI – short  for tzatziki – concept for restaurants could become a template for the world in the industry and he even got investors from Tesla owner Elon Musk’s backers.

He told Austonia that he’s on a vision quest for a “multi-decade, global-scale conquest to build the most significant company to ever exist in food,” and has the Sparta and Macedonia ancestry to take on the challenge.

His plan is to go industrial and optimize elements including ingredients, chefs, cooking techniques, agriculture, teams, factories, real estate, systems, technology, design, and logistics.

“ZIKI is approaching restaurants the same way Tesla approaches cars – with a master plan to be the fastest, most creative company in the category,” said investor Ryan Metzger.

ZIKI is a fast-casual restaurant serving Greek & Mexican fusion including dishes like zurritos among other signature plates.

Nanakos said, “our vision is to become the fastest-growing restaurant company on the planet, with unstoppable unit economics,” using the largest commercial kitchen in the state, preparing food on site, using delivery vans, and identifying areas with the highest order volumes.
