Iliopoulos: We Must Support the Refugees and the Return of Greek Expatriates

ATHENS – “At the moment, the thoughts of us all are on the departure of the Greeks from Mariupol and we hope that everything goes well,” main opposition SYRIZA-Progressive Alliance spokesperson Nassos Iliopoulos said in statements to Radio Thessaloniki 94.5 on Wednesday.

He stressed that “the condemnation of the Russian invasion of Ukraine is clear,” and that “it is an act that violates any notion of international law.”

“We are in an area where, for all the reasons in the world, we must support international law. We can not tolerate border changes whether we are talking about Eastern Europe, or the Balkans, or our immediate neighborhood,” he said.

“I hope that, in the face of these negative developments, the EU and the international community as a whole will take a firmer stand against revisionist powers,” he added, citing the example of Turkey.
