Iliopoulos: Lockdown Failed Because the Govt Refused to Do the Obvious

ATHENS — "The government, through its amendment on Wednesday, admits that there is mass spread of the virus on the means of public transport," stated main opposition SYRIZA-Progressive Alliance spokesperson Nassos Iliopoulos on Thursday.

The government "is publicly admitting its lies, the lies of Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis himself," Iliopoulos regarding an amendment to the Transport Ministry's bill on sustainable urban mobility.

Iliopoulos underlined that "the lockdown failed because the government refuses to do the obvious. To take measures on public transport and in work places and to proceed with the requisitioning of private clinics".

Τherefore, the society is paying the price with a failed five-month lockdown – the worst in Europe – because of Mitsotakis' "criminal obsessions", he added.
