Iliopoulos: Gov’t Leading Greece to Economic Suffocation

ATHENS – “The government [of Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis] is leading not only the most vulnerable but all of society to economic suffocation,” stated main opposition SYRIZA-Progressive Alliance spokesperson Nassos Iliopoulos, while speaking to Open TV on Monday.

He said the government was to blame for the stagnation of wages in the last two years, adding that “Greece is the only country in the eurozone where the minimum wage is lower than that of 2010.”

Greece, said Iliopoulos, “had recorded a negative record for wholesale electricity prices as far back as August 2021, long before the war in Ukraine, but the government was always keen to find some external factor to pin the blame on.”
