Horses in Varybobi Safely Transferred to Markopoulo

ATHENS — The evacuation and transfer of 250 horses at risk from the fire in Varybobi to the Olympic Riding Centre in Markopoulo was completed during the night, the head of the Greek Riding Federation Lilia Didi told the Athens-Macedonian News Agency (ANA) on Wednesday.

Federation officials have already been notified to go and collect five horses that were missing, she said.

Didi said some of the horses were distressed as a result of their ordeal but none had been injured, while a team of vets had provided first aid. Some arrived in Markopoulos in a state of high stress but were now much improved, she added.
