Hellenic American Academy Students Continue to Shine

DEERFIELD, IL – The students of Hellenic American Academy Students in Deerfield continue to shine, placing 1st in Division C at the Illinois State Science Fair which took place at Southern Illinois University in Carbondale on April 29. The students brought home four gold medals and two special awards.

Yianna Drossos received the Gold Medal and Special Award in the Health Science Category; Abby Nosovitsky received the Gold Medal – Health Science; Dean Tranas – Gold Medal – Physics; and Evangelia Tsatsaronis – Gold Medal in Microbiology and the ‘Thermo Fisher’ Special Award.

Congratulations to their teachers, Bill Tziavaras and Eleni Mastorakis, for preparing our students for success and special thanks to their families who supported their children on this exciting journey.

Illinois Principals Association Student Recognition

Congratulations to John Fournier for representing the Hellenic American Academy at the Illinois Principals Association Student Recognition Breakfast. John was recognized as an outstanding student and school citizen.

Agrafon Awards

Congratulations to Eleni Pawlicki for representing the Hellenic American Academy at the History Fair and the Annual Agrafon Award Ceremony organized by the Greek Orthodox Metropolis of Chicago Office of Education. Eleni presented her project ‘The History of Socrates School in Chicago,’ so fitting as this year is the 115th anniversary of Socrates School.
