November 27, 2020

DRAMA, Greece — Τhe director of Drama General Hospital, Thessalonikia Karatzoglou, on Friday referred to the tremendous efforts being made by doctors and the other hospital staff to deal with the increased workload from the treatment of patients with coronavirus.

She noted that the hospital was "suffocating" and that staff were battling bravely to "hold the region high".

Karatzoglou reported that Covid beds currently exceeded 50 pct of total capacity, with 136 patients currently being treated in the hospital's three covid clinics, which together have 140 beds, while the total capacity of the hospital is 256 beds.

She did not hide her concern over the increased number of cases in the region, underlining that "despite the general quarantine, there is still a growing momentum in the number of admissions".

The director also reported 60 Covid-19 deaths in the hospital so far, and a total of 536 Covid-19 patients admitted and treated.

Concluding her statements in the hospital's courtyard, she appealed to all the residents of the city to comply with the protection measures and to stay at home.
