HAWC Event with Oleosophia Founder & Olive Oil Sommelier Marianna Devetzoglou

LOS ANGELES – In celebration of Women’s History Month, the Hellenic American Women’s Council (HAWC) Pacific Region – Los Angeles invites everyone to learn all about olive oil and meet an olive oil sommelier with her own olive grove in Greece. On Saturday, March 11, 10 AM Pacific, HAWC Pacific is delighted to present a young woman who is quickly rising in the world as a Greek olive oil expert, Marina Devetzoglou. Register online for this informative ZOOM presentation: https://bit.ly/3Yr4fWo.

A few golden drops and some wild aromas were enough for Marianna to change her life. With a physics background and experience in corporate and research, a city girl with no exposure to agriculture, she created Oleosophia, a female founded and led company that travels the world. Marianna is a certified olive oil sommelier, olive oil consultant, award-winning producer, hostess of tastings and gastronomic experiences in the Corinth region of Greece and an ambassador of Greek olive oil. Her journey in entrepreneurship was powered by a personal love story and is now full of adventures, flavors and aromas. Through Oleosophia, Marianna aims to guide you into the amazing world of olive oil, gastronomy, culture and endless possibilities when working alongside Mother Nature. More information is available online: www.oleosophia.com.

Marianna Devetzoglou is an Olive Oil Sommelier and Master Olive Oil Consultant. Her family has an olive grove in the Corinth region. There she organizes and hosts olive oil tours, olive oil tastings, farm to table workshops, Q&As with the producer, webinars about health benefits, food pairings, and of course sales with individuals and retailers.

The olive groves are located in the village, Kalentzi, which is located at the base of Mt. Fokas, the mountain where the Lion of Nemea was born, according to legend. It has been the family’s base for three generations now. Blessed with a strategically mild microclimate and fertile land, the area offers a variety of products with excellent quality and authentic taste. Oleosophia is the family’s Extra Virgin Olive Oil, produced by handpicked olives, ensuring consistency in quality, flavor and aroma. Oleosophia is a limited edition product as the quantities are limited to each year’s yield.

Also on Saturday, March 11, HAWC Great Lakes presents Paradise Lost: The Final Days of Smyrna by Giles Milton at its Book Club – Group kick off via Zoom at 10 AM Central, 12 PM Eastern, 8 AM Pacific. In May, the author will discuss this book via Zoom.
