You won't need a side of cholesterol with the DUI – Dino's Ultimate Invention – fries at Los Angeles' iconic Dino's Famous Chicken because they already come with carne asada – marinated steak – topped with chili, shredded yellow cheese, pastrami, and drenched in their equally famous chicken marinade.

While it was the work of the Greek diner's late owner Demetrios Pantazis, the origin is said to be tied to the large Hispanic community in the city, reported L.A. Taco is what's behind the dish, called the “maximum expression of chili cheese fries,” wrote Vladimir Santos.

He said that as ‘Hood lore goes, “two rocker foo brothers, Alex and Rick Morales, who were born and raised in Koreatown, allegedly invented the dish after many booze-filled nights filled with fast music would bring them to Dino’s every weekend.”

To sober up before driving home, they would order the pastrami sandwich and carne asada fries so often that the cooks started combining the extra pastrami with the fries, a story disputed by Foodbeast earlier that said it was invented by a rival burger spot across the street. Skip the salt.
