Hatzidakis: The Bill on Labour Protection Empowers the Employee

ATHENS — "The bill on labour protection empowers the employee," Labour and Social Affairs Minister Kostis Hatzidakis said on Sunday in an interview with the Athens-Macedonian News Agency (ANA).

Analyzing the basic provisions of the bill, the minister stated that this is a major intervention that updates the labour legislation, which has not changed much since 1982, while, at the same time, trying to address "known labour market problems such as the "undeclared work, unpaid overtime, violence and harassment at work."

Hatzidakis characterized the bill for labour protection as a modern, European bill for the adaptation of the legislation to the technological, economic developments and social requirements of our time, based on what is happening in the most advanced EU countries.

"It is a bill that is strengthening the competitiveness of businesses while ensuring equally important social cohesion. A bill that creates the conditions for a productive Greece with new and better paid jobs. A bill that gives power to the employee," he underlined.
