Hatzidakis Presents Environment Ministry Programme and Role in Economic Recovery

ATHENS — A new bill on town planning and a series of actions as incentives for electromobility, electric power interconnection of the islands and other issues are included in the environment and energy ministry's programme, as presented by environment and energy Minister Kostis Hatzidakis on Wednesday at the conference "Overcoming the pandemic: energy, economy, investments and health."

"The government did well at the health level, the major challenge is to do as well in the economy. Undoubtedly there will be repercussions that will bring, as in the entire Europe, a recession. We are working so that 2021 will be a year of strong growth. We deserve it after a lost decade," underlined Hatzidakis.

The environment and energy will be on the epicentre of this effort, he said, with financing from the EU Recovery Fund that will be soon presented and will be positive for growth, without neglecting the environment.

"Green policy provides the opportunity for new job positions. The transition to a new era with more concern for the environment will be linked with new jobs and with economic prospects for the country," concluded Hatzidakis.
