Greek Woman Set Alight by Her Husband Dies of Burn Injuries

September 12, 2022

KOMOTINI – The 55-year-old woman who was doused in petrol and set alight by her 62-year-old husband has died of burn injuries in Thessaloniki’s Papanikolaou Hospital, doctors announced on Monday.

She had been transferred to Papanikolaou Hospital from Komotini Hospital due to the seriousness of her injuries but doctors were unable to save her life, making her the latest in a string of murders of women by a husband or partner in recent years.

Her husband, who was arrested after he set fire to her following an argument last Thursday and had been charged with attempted homicide with intent, will now face a charge of murder.
