Greek Unemployment Rate Fell to 14.2% in July

ATHENS — The Greek unemployment rate fell to 14.2 pct of the workforce in July from 16.8 pct in July 2020 and 15 pct in June 2021, Hellenic Statistical Authority said on Wednesday. More specifically, the number of unemployed people totaled 664,384, down 14 pct from July 2020 and down 5.7 pct from June.

Among women, the unemployment rate was 18.7 pct in July, down from 20.2 pct last year, while among men it fell to 10.6 pct from 14.1 pct, respectively. The unemployment rate in the 15-24 age group eased to 32.3 pct in July from 35.8 pct in July 2020, while among the 25-74 age group it fell to 13.3 pct from 15.9 pct. The number of employed people was 4,011,357 in July, up 4.8 pct from July 2020 and up 0.2 pct from June.
