Greek Unemployment Rate Fell to 12.5% in May

ATHENS – The Greek unemployment rate eased to 12.5% in May from 12.6% in April and 15.6% in May 2021, Hellenic Statistical Authority said on Thursday. More specifically, the number of unemployed people totaled 596,056 in May, down 130,016 from May 2021 (-17.9%) but up 4,495 (0.8%) from April 2022. The unemployment rate among women was 16.5% (19.9% in 2021) and among men 9.2% (12% in 2021). The unemployment rate in the 15-24 age group fell to 30.1% from 37.1% and in the 25-74 age group it fell to 11.5% from 14.6%. The number of employed people was 4,170,361, up 5.8% from May 2021 and up 1.3% from April 2022.
