Greek Tourism Min Chairs e-Meeting of UN Working Group Dealing with COVID-19 Fallout on Tourism

ATHENS – Greek Tourism Minister Harry Theoharis on Monday proposed the creation of a task force that will help the tourism industry recover from the negative impact of the coronavirus pandemic, during the first video conference of a special working group against the pandemic.

Theoharis chaired the teleconference of UNWTO’s Regional Commission for Europe, which comprises ten member countries.

UNWTO Secretary-General Zurab Pololikashvili thanked Theoharis for his initiative, while the participating officials that the working group's final text will be ready by week's end.

The Global Tourism Crisis Committee was also recently launched by the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) and the World Health Organization (WHO) to help mitigate the pandemic's impact on the global tourism sector.
