ATHENS – With Greece suddenly awash in sexual harassment and abuse scandals in sports, the arts and media, a prosecutor is looking into complaints from graduates of the Arsakeio high school group they were victims too.
Some 285 former students asked for an investigation through the Chairman of the Educational Society of Athens, citing sexual harassment and verbal abuse from 1994-2018, said Kathimerini.
They named teachers but their identities weren’t reported, and also were said to have claimed other teachers covered up repeated incidents without giving details of what allegedly happened.
The Educational Society said it will closely monitor the process and assist the work of the prosecution authorities, the paper said.
The Arsakeion comprises six schools, with campuses in Psychiko, Ekali (Tosítseion campus), Thessaloniki, Patras, Ioannina, and recently Tirana, Albania, with more than 9,000 total students. Plans are under way to build campuses in Komotini and in Cyprus.
