Greek Poultry Cooperative Suspends Slaughterhouse Operation Due to Virus Infections

IOANNINA, Greece — 'Pindos' loannina Agricultural Poultry Farming Cooperative is suspending the operation of its poultry slaughterhouse for four days, following the detection of asymptomatic coronavirus carriers at the plant, the company said on Friday.

In a statement, Pindos said the temporary shutdown (October 25-28) comes as a precautionary measure to ensure the health of its employees and broader public health. The company has so far carried out some 500 molecular tests and 300 rapid tests for Covid-19 on its workers free of charge.
