MISSOULA, Montana – Waves crashed and the sun peeked out from behind the clouds briefly as Father Rob Spaliatsos blessed the Clark Fork River at Brennan’s Wave on Sunday afternoon, the Missoulian reports.

“The crowd, which Spaliatsos said was the largest to date, gathered slowly on the deck overlooking the river at Caras Park to celebrate the feast day of Theophany (the baptism of Jesus Christ) with a blessing of the waters.

“After a short ceremony, Spaliatsos trudged through the snow, down to the water’s edge and threw a cross made of olive wood into the river three times as he sang a hymn.”
