Greek Navy’s Gunship Carrying Medical Aid Departs for Beirut

ATHENS — Greek Navy's gunship IKARIA sailed early Sunday for the port of Beirut carrying armed forces' medical and nursing staff, medicines and material collected by the Civil Protection and Crises Management Deputy Ministry in the context of Greece's aid to Lebanon to address the consequences of 4th August's fatal blast.

According to the National Defence General Staff and following Cyprus' request, the Greek gunship will load material from the port of Limassol, a Cyprus' offer to the government of Lebanon.

The announcement said that specific instructions and protocols for all the passengers will be followed against the spread of COVID-19 during the vessel's stay at the port of Beirut.

PM Mitsotakis to take part in virtual donors conference for Lebanon

Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, at French President Emmanuel Macron's invitation, will take part on Sunday at 15:00 at a virtual donors' conference on Sunday to solicit international aid for Lebanon co-hosted by the French Presidency and the UN.

In the conference will participate US President Donald Trump, the President of Egypt Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, Cyprus President Nicos Anastasiades, the King of Jordan Abdullah II, the Prime Minister of Italy Guiseppe Conte and of Spain Pedro Sanchez, the president of the European Council Charles Michel and the Foreign Minister of Germany Heiko Maas and others.
