ATHENS — Movement For Change (KINAL) MEP Nikos Androulakis urged that Golden Dawn's MEP Ioannis Lagos be expelled from the European Parliament after the Athens Appeal Court convicted him of criminal activity along with other former party MPs on Wednesday.
In a letter to European Parliament President David Sassoli, Androulakis said, "Greek justice took the first steptook the first step, I urge you to take the next one."
In a similar move, the Communist Party of Greece (KKE) MEPs also called on Sassoli to initiate proceedings for the expulsion of Lagos. They also called for the expulsion of MEP Athanasios Konstantinou, of the same party, and for all possible substitutes related to Golden Dawn. "Golden Dawn criminals belong in jail," the KKE Eurodeputies said.
Lagos and Konstantinou are listed as "Independent" in official Europarliament pages.
