Greek Island of Patmos in State of Emergency

February 4, 2021

ATHENS — The island of Patmos was declared on Thursday in state of emergency at Civil Protection general secretary Vassilis Papageorgiou's decision following a municipality of Patmos request.

The decision was reached due to the extraordinary needs and the management of the consequences from floods, landslides and others, a result of the rainstorms that hit the island on February 1.

The decision says that the island will remain in state of emergency for six months.
