Greek Former Education Minister Marietta Giannakou Dies at 71

ATHENS – Marietta Giannakou, a former Greek education minister and a lawmaker with the ruling New Democracy party, died on Sunday at 71.

The ND state deputy was admitted to an ICU at the 251 Air Force military hospital after a fall from her wheelchair, which made it necessary for her to undergo surgery as doctors determined she had a hematoma.
