ATHENS – It’s a dubious honor of sorts, but a Greek film is the country’s first to be nominated for Best Foreign Production at the so-called Porn Oscars ceremony that will be held in Las Vegas on Jan. 25.

Greece’s Sirina productions and its owner, film director Dimitris Sirinakis – also known as the Greek King of Porn – will take part in the Adult Video News (AVN) Awards that are porn films biggest event and has interest around the world.

Nearly 100 awards are given out in categories as diverse as Best Video, Best New Starlet, Most Outrageous Sex Scene and Best Group Sex Scene, said Kathimerini in a report that also showed that Greece is 27th worldwide in data traffic for people watching pornography, which is the most watched on the Internet.

The popular site Pornhub said that it received a 42 billion hits in 2019, with 6.83 million new videos uploaded by users themselves who aren’t ashamed of depicting themselves in every type of sex act on display for all to see, which has made some become celebrities.
The most commonly searched category in Greece was “lesbian,” which was also the main search word in North America, Brazil, Argentina, and Australia.
