Greek Delivery Workers Declare 24-Hour Strike of e-Food Platform Staff on Friday

ATHENS — The Panhellenic Federation of Employees in Tourism and Food (POEET) has announced a 24-hour strike for the e-food platform's delivery staff.

The union's key demands are stable and permanent jobs for all and the renewal of all work contracts with indefinite duration and with direct hiring by e-food, with full labour and social insurance rights.

It also asked for various measures to ensure work safety, such as stopping deliveries when weather conditions are dangerous, among others.

Search Effort Intensifies after Indonesia Quake Killed 271

CIANJUR, Indonesia — More rescuers and volunteers were deployed Wednesday in devastated areas on Indonesia's main island of Java to search for the dead and missing from an earthquake that killed at least 271 people.
