Greek Culture Min Asks for Speeding up of Work in Amphipolis

ATHENS – Culture Minister Lina Mendoni asked the Directorate for the Restoration of Ancient Monuments to speed up the procedures related to completing a static and geotechnical studies of the monument at the Casta Tomb in Amphipolis and their submission to the Central Archaeological Council during a teleconference held on Monday, at the latest, in order to check the progress of the work in Amphipolis and to resolve any issues in the implementation of projects.

"With the return to normality, the necessary work must move quickly, so that by the end of the year the supportive operations within the monument complex have been completed, as well as the cleaning of the slopes and the earthworks for the promotion of the southeastern part of the marble enclosure – the best-preserved section of it – and restoring the shape of the hill," she said.
